Antonia Fraser once said that “of course there's no such thing as a totally objective person, except Almighty God, if She exists.”
This came as somewhat of a shock to me, seeing myself, as I do, to be objective, unopinionated, and fair. That said, I do take the odd firm stance when feminism, spirituality or the societal role of the older woman is in question.
Sometimes these stances express themselves in dolls, paper or otherwise. This is not to say that all the dolls have deep and serious meaning- but as Clarissa Pinkola Estes said: “In the doll is the voice, in diminutive, of old La Que Sabe, The One Who Knows.”
Most of the dolls range in size from 7 to 14 inches (18 to 36cm) tall.
